Oh so, another Substack? By...you? Why?
Hi there! Remember me? Of course you do! Or don't. Anyway, for those of you who know me, hi again, it's nice to see you and yes, I've decided to join the world of Substack and create some...content.
I believe this is my 4th attempt at having a “blog” but we’re not calling them blogs anymore are we? We’re calling them “Substacks” and here I am giving this solo writing thing a shot once again.
I’m calling this the “Untitled John Colucci Project,” because this also may end up being other forms of media at some point (videos, podcasts, etc.) but we’ll start more simply with words.
Whether you know me or don’t, let me (re?)introduce myself without making it sound like a cover letter or resume (if you want that info, please check my LinkedIn!)
I’m John Colucci, a geriatric millennial who recently moved back to my chosen home of Seattle, WA after living in the DMV (specifically, Bethesda, MD) for a little over a year. I moved to Seattle initially in late 2015 after many years in San Francisco. I moved to the Bay Area in my early 20s from my home state of New Jersey.
I am not new to writing. I did some during my digital content strategy career with two local news companies, but went more long-form during my time at Engadget. There’s a whole portfolio where I assembled of my works on Muck Rack if you’re interested but truly my favorite editorial project was interviewing Cookie Monster (words; video) and Sesame Street’s EP.
What will this Substack be about? I’m keeping it flexible and ideally, positive. I plan to stick to more pop culture type stories and general lifestyle content. I want this to be a fun escape from hard news and also offer a space to share diverse opinions - whether mine or others.
Feedback is always welcome - and I look forward to seeing how this all goes. It’ll be fun! Maybe.
